Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford was born in the US. She is an actor, singer and dancer. Her early Broadway roles included Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her performance on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel was rewarded with the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actress in the Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford spent her career collaborating with acclaimed directors and actors across the stage, film and TV and she is continuing her award-winning collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be an exclusive Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show debuts on November 22 and Ashford is starring alongside Kumail Najiani. Ashford currently works in Searchlight Pictures' horror thriller Dust opposite Sarah Paulson, Ebon Moss Bachrach and Ebon Mosch-Bachrach. The film is part of a Hulu Original and will be streamed via Disney DTC. It will be released in 2023, March. Ashford returns to Broadway and will be starring alongside Josh Groban in the revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will be the creative team for the musical. Ashford has been seen most recently as Paula Jones in Ryan Murphy FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The series is based on the National Crisis, which saw Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp in the middle of the nation's first impeachment proceedings over 100 Years. In two seasons, Ashford was the main character of the hit show on CBS called B Positive. It was produced by Chuck Lorre with Marco Pennette. It featured Linda lavin, Hector Elizondo, and Ben Vereen. Ashford is no stranger to Broadway. Her portrayal of Essie in You Can't Take It with You won her the Tony Drama Desk Awards and Outer Critics Circle Awards. Her additional Broadway credits includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren in Kinky Boots a performance for which she received another Tony Award nomination. She was born and grew up in Denver Ashford now splits her days between Los Angeles and New York.
